FAQs

Anrok overview

Q1
What is Anrok?

Anrok is the global sales tax and VAT compliance platform built for today's fastest-growing companies. It connects the full compliance lifecycle in one system: nexus monitoring, registration, calculation, filing, remittance, and reconciliation.

Most finance teams patch together a calculation tool, a filing vendor, and a spreadsheet for reconciliation. The result: mismatched numbers and amendments no one catches.

Anrok is built end-to-end, so every step stays connected and auditable. Today, thousands of companies worldwide use Anrok to process over $100 billion in transaction volume across 150+ countries and 13,000+ US jurisdictions, including home-rule cities.

Q2
How does Anrok handle sales tax and VAT registration, filing, and remittance?

When Anrok detects your business has crossed an exposure threshold in a new jurisdiction, it handles the entire compliance chain: registration with the relevant tax authority, accurate calculation at checkout, timely filing, and remittance on your behalf. You don't log into government portals, set up manual filing schedules, or track deadlines yourself.

Anrok covers all 13,000+ taxing jurisdictions across the US and 150+ countries, including currency-ready returns and a single workflow for registration, filing, and remittance. Anrok's tax experts review every registration and filing.

Q3
What is Anrok Atlas?

Anrok Atlas is a conversational AI built into the Anrok platform. It lets finance teams, including CFOs, controllers, and VPs of finance, ask questions about their own tax data in plain English and get answers in seconds.

Atlas gives you a new way to interact with data already in Anrok, including your transactions, registrations, filings, exemption certificates, and product configurations. Instead of digging through reports or waiting on a support ticket, ask Atlas directly and get answers based on your specific situation instead of generic documentation.

Q4
Does Anrok cover international VAT, GST, and sales tax compliance?

Yes. Anrok handles global tax compliance natively across 150+ countries, including VAT in Europe, GST in markets like Australia and Canada, and e-invoicing mandates across the EU and Latin America. All of it lives in a single platform alongside your US compliance obligations, with no fragmented systems, no separate tools, and no workarounds.

Q5
Which billing, ERP, and ecommerce systems does Anrok integrate with?

Anrok has native integrations across billing platforms, ERPs, ecommerce systems, and HRIS tools. Key integrations include Stripe, NetSuite, Salesforce, Zuora, Chargebee, QuickBooks, Workday, WooCommerce, and Shopify. Anrok also connects to employee location data through HRIS integrations, capturing physical nexus created by remote employees, something legacy solutions don't capture. All data flows in real time, so your numbers are always accurate and audit-ready.

Q6
How does Anrok monitor and track economic nexus across US states?

Anrok continuously tracks your transaction volume and revenue against economic nexus thresholds in every US state. Economic nexus rules vary by state and continue to evolve, with a growing number of states eliminating the 200-transaction test in favor of revenue-only thresholds. Anrok accounts for these differences automatically.

When your business approaches or crosses a threshold, Anrok surfaces the obligation and initiates registration on your behalf, so you are never caught off guard by a state notice.

Q7
How does Anrok handle sales tax exemption certificates?

Anrok automates the full exemption certificate workflow: collection, validation, expiration tracking, and renewal requests. Finance teams previously spending 10 to 40 hours per month on certificate management offload the work entirely to Anrok. Anrok stores certificates in an audit-ready format, and customers upload their own through a self-service portal.

Whether you have dozens of exempt customers or thousands, Anrok helps you maintain clean processes that save you and your customers time.

Q8
How is Anrok different from Avalara?

About 40% of Anrok's mid-market customers switched from Avalara. The three reasons that came up most: reconciliation that didn't match their billing systems, support that rotated contacts and took days to respond, and calculations that required manual true-ups.

Anrok is built to solve all three. Reconciliation is automatic, support is US-based with a dedicated team facilitating onboarding, and accuracy is expert-verified.

Q9
How long does it take to implement Anrok?

For most companies, Anrok is live within one to four weeks. Smaller businesses with a straightforward tech stack are typically up and running in one to two weeks. Mid-market companies with more complex integrations, including multiple billing systems, an ERP, or a multi-channel ecommerce setup, generally complete implementation in two to four weeks.

Pre-sale sandbox access lets you validate accuracy against your own data before signing.

Q10
How does Anrok help with sales tax and VAT reconciliation and month-end close?

Anrok gives finance teams a single source of truth for sales tax across every channel and system. Transactions from your billing platform, ERP, ecommerce storefront, marketplaces, and POS all flow into one reconciled data model, with transaction-level detail by state and channel.

Anrok handles returns, exchanges, and partial refunds correctly, with no manual adjustments needed. The results are a faster month-end close, fewer surprises at quarter-end, and an audit trail always ready when you need it.

FAQs

Pricing

Q1
What is a market?

A market is any single jurisdiction where you have a tax obligation and need to register and file. Each US state where you're registered counts as one market.
Internationally, the definition follows how tax authorities structure compliance. Canada's federal GST/HST is one market. BC, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan each have their own provincial sales tax, so each counts as a separate market. Quebec has its own QST and counts separately too. In the EU, filing through the One Stop Shop (OSS) counts as one market. Most other countries count individually.

To make it concrete: if you're registered in California, New York, Texas, and the UK, you're in four markets.

Q2
How is Anrok's pricing calculated?

Anrok charges a flat fee per market per month. eCommerce companies pay $50 per market per month on the Starter plan. All other companies pay $100 per market per month on the same plan. On the Custom plan, pricing scales with your total transaction volume, and the team quotes you based on your sales. Both plans include the full Anrok platform, with no extra charges for calculations, filings, or core features.

Q3
What does the Starter plan include?

Starter covers everything you need to stay compliant: global exposure monitoring, real-time tax calculation, filing and remittance, exemption certificate management, and physical nexus tracking. Pricing starts at $50 per market per month for eCommerce companies and $100 per market per month for all other companies. Starter is built for founders and early teams who want compliance handled end-to-end from their first sale.

Q4
When does it make sense to move to the Custom plan?

If you're operating at global scale, have complex systems or structures, or are heading towards a major financial event like an IPO, our Custom plan is tailored to your needs. Our current customers on our custom plans often utilize solutions for audit-ready reporting, advanced connectivity to external systems, and take advantage of priority technical and tax expert support so they can scale their business without scaling their tax team.

Q5
Are there any additional fees beyond the per-market price?

On the Custom plan, you get everything for a single per-market rate with no surprise add-ons for standard features. On the Starter plan, sellers with high transaction volumes may be subject to additional fees to cover 3rd party fees we may incur. All costs will be clearly outlined to you by your account representative before you make any commitments.

Q6
What happens to my price as I expand into new markets?

Each new market you activate adds one per-market fee to your monthly bill. When you're ready to expand, Anrok handles registration and compliance setup in the new market automatically. No per-filing charges, and no hidden fees for activating a new jurisdiction.

Q7
Is there a way to estimate my costs before signing?

Yes. Anrok's team will walk you through a pricing estimate based on your current market footprint, growth projections, and the features you need. For companies evaluating the Custom plan, Anrok also offers pre-sale sandbox access so you can validate accuracy against your own data before committing. Book a demo to get started.
